Together with Gero, he launched the plan for a social project in 2014. Carles, who himself suffers from a physical disability and is now in a wheelchair, was able to complete a teacher degree at Denpasar Saraswati University in 2007, despite his physical limitations. Supported and financed by German missionaries, he was offered this opportunity. Therefore he knows first-hand how valuable good training is and how important fair treatment and proper support are for people with disabilities in a society. Carles is extremely committed and is constantly working with the whole team to push the project forward and find ways to optimize the organization. He is the latest addition to PDF. He is a strong support for the internal communication of the organization as well as for the evaluation of new patients. It was through his work with the local people, and especially through the warmth, kindness and hospitality of the Indonesian helpers that Gero was inspired to go back to Flores. After four years of preparation and several visits later, he was able to start this project together with a group of Indonesian friends. He has been living in Labuan Bajo with his wife and two daughters since 2010. He is a trained master builder and is responsible for the care of patients and the planning of infrastructure projects. When he lost his father at the age of 11, he and his family faced the existential abyss. Together with his mother and siblings, he was admitted to a rehabilitation center (in Cancar), which was managed by Sister Virgula. Er lebt seit 2010 mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Töchtern in Labuan Bajo. Er ist gelernter Baumeister und für die Betreuung von Patienten und die Planung von Infrastrukturprojekten zuständig. Als er mit 11 Jahren sein Vater verlor, stand er mit seiner Familie vor dem existentiellen Abgrund. Gemeinsam mit seiner Mutter und seinen Geschwistern wurde er in einem Rehabilationszentrum (in Cancar), welches von Schwester Virgula geleitet wurde aufgenommen. Durch seine Arbeit mit der lokalen Bevölkerung und insbesondere durch die Herzlichkeit, Freundlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft der indonesischen Helfer wurde Gero dazu inspiriert, nach Flores zurückzukehren. Nach vierjähriger Vorbereitung und mehreren Besuchen später konnte er dieses Projekt starten. 2013 wanderte Gero aus seiner Heimatstadt im schönen Saarland (Westdeutschland) in die österreichische Hauptstadt aus. Er studierte zunächst in Wien und ist heute Unternehmer und leitet ein eigenes Start-up. Da er den größten Teil des Jahres in Wien verbringt, koordiniert Gero die Arbeit von PDF mit seinen indonesischen Partnern, die vor Ort tätig sind. Gemeinsam mit Gero hat er bereits 2014 den Plan für ein soziales Projekt auf den Weg gebracht. Charles der selber an einer körperlichen Behinderung leidet und mittlerweile im Rollstuhl sitzt, konnte trotz seiner körperlichen Einschränkung 2007 ein Lehrer Studium an der Denpasar Saraswati Universität abschließen. Unterstützt und finanziert von deutschen Missionaren wurde ihm diese Möglichkeit geboten. Er weiß daher aus erster Hand wie wertvoll eine gute Ausbildung und wie wichtig die faire Behandlung und richtige Unterstützung für Menschen mit Behinderung in einer Gesellschaft ist. Carles ist ausgesprochen engagiert und ständig bemüht in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ganzen Team das Projekt voranzutreiben und Möglichkeiten zu finden, die Organisation zu optimieren. Im administrativen Bereich ist für ihn vor allem die Transparenz nach Außen von großer Bedeutung.
